Alderman Tim Richardson met with members of the Kennehoochee Amateur Radio Club on Saturday, June 28th, at Dallas Landing Park to present a proclamation from the City of Acworth declaring June 23–29 as Amateur Radio Week. The club gathered for their annual Field Day event, a nationwide exercise that highlights the importance of emergency communications preparedness by making two-way shortwave radio contacts with other amateur radio operators across the country. At the Wednesday, June 18 city council meeting, Acworth Police Chief Cheatham recognized Sergeant Greene as the Acworth Police Department Officer of the Quarter for his outstanding leadership and dedication to developing his team. Not only has he helped guide and mold his shift, but he also introduced new programs in our schools, expanding our connection with the community in meaningful ways. At the Wednesday, June 18 city council meeting, Acworth Police Chief Cheatham acknowledged and swore in Jeramy Towe on his promotion as Corporal and recognized his many accomplishments since 2013 with the Acworth Police Department. At the Thursday, June 5 regular city council meeting, Alderman Richardson presented the annual proclamation for U.S. Army Day, June 14, 2025, to recent Citizen Police Academy graduate, Christie Skibbie, and recognized her twenty-three years of service, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel.
