Proclamation Recognizing Acworth Alumni of the Lemon Street Elementary School

At the Thursday, September 4 regular City Council meeting, Mayor Allegood and Alderman Houston recognized Acworth alumni of the former Lemon Street Schools (Marietta) for their contributions in overcoming the challenges of segregation, and for their significant impact in changing the trajectory of quality education and life for all students. Mayor Allegood presented the proclamation to Acworth citizens Willie Mae & Claude Johnson and commended Anthony Coleman for his assistance with prompting the proclamation for presentation.
Acworth alumni of Lemon Street elementary and high schools include but are not limited to Clara Blalock, Georgia Ann Blalock, Anita Brown (Late), Amos Durr (Late), James Griffin, Larry Griffin, Louise Griffin, Roy Griffin, Willis Griffin, Doyle Hill (Late), Helen Hill, Robert Houston (Late), Roslyn Ann Houston, Willie Mae Johnson, Joyce Randolph (Late), Charles Watt, Glenda Wise, Henry Wise (Late), Roy Young, and Faris Zachery.
