Running the Acworth Community

Acworth is known for its lakes and beaches, its tasty restaurants and small-town charm – but one thing you’ll find when you look a little closer is the ever-growing running community!

Started by Eddie and Melanie Bowling, the small club began as an after-work endeavor with their team, running the sidewalks of the Historic District. As interest grew among friends and colleagues, the runners moved their starting point to Logan Farm Park and expanded their membership from 3 to 6. Fast forward two years to 2021, and the running club partnered with Red Top Brewhouse to become what the Red Top Runners club is today! Once Acworth’s much-loved Mill District brewpub became the new official home base, it quickly grew to a consistent 75+ turnout. The Bowling team’s collective love for running and community continued to make the club bigger and better year after year, bringing residents together in a meaningful way while fostering wellness in Acworth!

As the largest running club in Acworth, it’s a vibrant and supportive community of walkers and runners alike. Bowling Law continues to sponsor the group, while their Marketing Manager, Casey McClarty, manages the group year-round. The club also brings in local business sponsors each month of the summer season to offer raffle prizes and promote their businesses to the community. On top of the monthly raffle prizes, registered runners who attend 75% of the summer season receive a free end-of-season sweatshirt from Bowling Law! The club continues through the winter season on a smaller scale, and on an adjusted route that follows well-lit areas for runners’ safety.

This club continued to meet at the park until 2024, when TRG Vino Market opened its doors on Main Street and generously offered a home for the club, giving participants a safe spot to leave their belongings, as well as a welcoming atmosphere to unwind and connect after each run. Also sponsored by Bowling Law, this club meets every Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. for a steady run on an approximately 2.6-mile route.

Acworth’s local running clubs make up an active and important corner of the community that continues to show up week after week with open arms and enthusiasm, improving quality of life for everyone involved!
