Oath of Office Administered to Corporal Jeramy Towe

At the Wednesday, June 18 city council meeting, Acworth Police Chief Cheatham acknowledged and swore in Jeramy Towe on his promotion as Corporal and recognized his many accomplishments since 2013 with the Acworth Police Department. Corporal Towe's spouse and son accompanied him for the presentation.

Proclamation for Mike Schroeder in Recognition of 1885 Grill Acworth being named Cobb’s Business of the Year 2025!

Proclamation in recognition of U.S. Army Day, June 14, 2025

At the Thursday, June 5 regular city council meeting, Alderman Richardson presented the annual proclamation for U.S. Army Day, June 14, 2025, to recent Citizen Police Academy graduate, Christie Skibbie, and recognized her twenty-three years of service, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. U.S. Army Day encourages all citizens to honor the Army as well as other armed forces personnel who have served and sacrificed for the safety and well-being of others through the defense of this nation for 250 years.

Recognition of Officer Mike Payne for 10 years of service to the City

At the Thursday, June 5 regular city council meeting, Chief Cheatam recognized Officer Mike Payne for faithfully serving the City of Acworth for the past ten years. Officer Payne began his law enforcement career with the Cobb County Police Department, where he served for 32 years and retired as a Major.

Recognition of Corporal Cody Lumpkin for 10 years of service to the City

At the Thursday, June 5 regular city council meeting, Chief Cheatam recognized Corporal Cody Lumpkin for ten years of service with the City of Acworth. Corporal Lumpkin began his law enforcement career at the Acworth Adult Detention Facility before transitioning to a sworn law enforcement officer.  Corporal Lumpkin’s family accompanied him for the presentation.

Proclamation Recognizing Motorcycle Safety and Awareness Month Presented to the Gena McLeod Memorial Foundation

At the Thursday, May 15 regular city council meeting, Alderman Houston recognized and presented the annual Motorcycle Safety and Awareness Month Proclamation to President Donna Nunez and other members of the Gena McLeod Memorial Foundation. The mission of the foundation is to bring awareness and understanding of safety and legislation that impacts all motorcyclists, whereas all motor vehicle operators are urged to join the effort to keep our highways safe.
