Oath of Office for Newly Promoted Corporal Lumpkin with Acworth Police

At the Thursday, November 2 regular city council meeting, Chief Evans administered the oath of office and swearing in of Corporal Cody Lumpkin.  Corporal Lumpkin was surrounded by his family and members of the Acworth Police Department for the occasion.  Corporal Lumpkin began employment with the Acworth Police Department on June 8, 2015, and has served as a patrol officer in addition to time spent time in Special Operations prior to his recent promotion.

Ribbon Cutting Celebrating Acworth Vintage & Vinyl

On Friday, October 20, Mayor Allegood and the City Team celebrated the grand opening of Acworth Vintage & Vinyl with an official ribbon cutting. Acworth Vintage & Vinyl is located at 4510 South Main Street across from the Holbrook, and the Acworth community looks forward to its new chapter in the Mill District.

Proclamation Celebrating Arts and Humanities Month

At the Thursday, October 19 regular city council meeting, Alderman Butch Price presented the National Arts & Humanities Month proclamation to members of the Acworth Arts Alliance and Acworth Cultural Arts Center, and encouraged citizens to celebrate and promote the Arts in our community noting the value of our arts organizations and the impact the Arts have on our culture and economy.

Proclamation for Red Ribbon Week, October 23-31

At the Thursday, October 19 regular city council meeting, Alderman Brett North presented William Hughes, Johnathan Hughes, and Elizabeth Hughes with a proclamation designating October 23-31 as Red Ribbon Week.   Red Ribbon Week encourages a drug-free lifestyle and involvement in drug prevention and reduction efforts. Members of the community are encouraged to wear a red ribbon to show their support of a drug-free environment.

Proclamation for National Family Literacy Day, November 1

At the Thursday, October 19th regular city council meeting, Mayor Tommy Allegood presented members of the Daughters of the American Revolution Liberty Hill Chapter (Melinda Allen, Betty Westbrook, & Patricia Hein). with a proclamation celebrating National Family Literacy Day. National Family Literacy Day is celebrated on November 1 and highlights the importance of reading and learning for the entire family while emphasizing the impact that parents have on their children's learning.

Recognition of Van Jacobs for his service to the Planning and Zoning Commission

Proclamation in Honor of United States Air Force Day

At the Thursday, September 7 regular city council meeting, Alderman Pugliese presented the City of Acworth's United States Air Force Day proclamation to Eldrige Holloway and encouraged residents to remember and thank our active military veterans. Mr. Holloway served in the USAF on active duty from 1978 to 1995 and returned to Georgia after retirement. United States Air Force Day is celebrated on September 18.
