Proclamation in Recognition of Public Safety Appreciation Week, October 7-11, 2024

At the Thursday, October 17 regular city council meeting, Chief Evans presented the annual Public Safety Appreciation Week Proclamation to members of the Acworth Police Department, with special mention of Sergeant Eric Mistretta, who received the Cobb Chamber Community Improvement Award for his work in community engagement. An Acworth police officer was also honored as Cobb Chamber Officer of the Year for saving a woman's life during a mental health crisis.

Proclamation in Recognition of Red Ribbon Week, October 23-31, 2024

At the Thursday, October 17 regular city council meeting, Acworth Police Department Chief Evans presented the annual Red Ribbon Week Proclamation to members of the Young Marines, who advised of their mission and activities.  Red Ribbon Week is being recognized October 23-31 in the Acworth community to emphasize drug prevention and awareness.

PlanFirst Presentation by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs to the City of Acworth

At the Thursday, October 17 regular city council meeting, Development Director Alex Almodovar acknowledged Daniel Gaddis from the Georgia Department of Community Affairs who recognized the City for receiving the PlanFirst Community designation for effective implementation of its comprehensive plan. The PlanFirst designation lasts for three years commencing January 1, 2025, and enables communities to take advantage of various incentives such as statewide recognition and access to several resources.

Recognition of the City of Acworth Being Named Atlanta’s Healthiest Employer for 2024 by the Atlanta Business Chronical

At the Thursday, October 17 regular city council meeting, Human Resource Director Dana Alvin recognized members of the Acworth Wellness Committee and One Digital partners for their contributions in the city being named Atlanta’s Healthiest Employer for 2024 by the Atlanta Business Chronical.  Team members received a certificate of recognition for their efforts in promoting health awareness amongst city employees.

At the Thursday, October 17 regular city council meeting, Alderman North presented the annual United States Navy Day Proclamation to Officer Scott Whiddon of the Acworth Police Department.  Navy day is celebrated on October 13, and this year marks the 249th anniversary. Citizens are encouraged to remember and thank our veterans and active military personnel who faithfully serve in this and other branches of the United States Armed Forces.
