Ribbon Cutting Celebrating Northwest Pediatric Care

On Friday, June 14, Alderman Houston and the City Team celebrated the grand opening of Northwest Pediatric Care with a ribbon cutting. Thank you to Dr. Figaro and her team for investing in the City of Acworth with their beautiful new practice serving Acworth's little ones. Northwest Pediatric Care is located at 3950 Cobb Parkway NW, Suite 801 past Hwy 92.

Presentation by the Rotary Club of North Cobb for Support of the 2024 Smoke on the Lake BBQ Festival

At the Thursday, June 6 regular city council meeting, members of the North Cobb Rotary Club presented funds raised from the May 10-11, 2024 Smoke on the Lake BBQ Festival held at Logan Farm Park and thanked Mayor Allegood and the Board of Aldermen for their continued support of the event.  This year's festival served as one of the largest fundraisers in the club's history with proceeds benefiting local charities. Proclamation in Recognition of U.S. Army Day, June 14

At the Thursday, June 6 regular city council meeting, Mayor Allegood presented the annual U.S. Army Day Proclamation to retired veteran and former Commander Naomi Munevar. On June 14, 2024, we celebrate 249 years of the U.S. Army's existence, whereas Acworth citizens are urged to recognize and honor our Army and all members of the armed forces who sacrifice their lives for the safety and well-being of others.

Proclamation in Recognition of North Cobb Christian School Eagles for 2024 Athletic Accomplishments

At the Thursday, June 6 regular city council meeting, Mayor Tommy presented a proclamation to North Cobb Christian School "Eagles" for 2024 Athletic Accomplishments including recognition of the NCCS Baseball Team winning the 2024 GHSA 2A State Championship for the second straight GHSA 2A State Championship making this the fourth overall championship in program history with the other two in 2002 and 2006; and in recognition of Christina Surcey for winning the GHSA 2A Girls Individual Golf Championship, a first for NCCS.

City of Acworth offices will be closed on Wednesday, June 19 in observance of Juneteenth. Proclamation in Recognition of Coast Guard Auxiliary for National Safe Boating Week, May 18-24, 2024

At the Thursday, May 16 regular city council meeting, Alderman Prather presented the National Safe Boating Week Proclamation for May 18-24 to members of the Coast Guard Auxiliary.  Greg Fonzeno, Division Chief and Victor Reyes, Secretary were recognized in acceptance of the proclamation. The purpose of the proclamation is to promote safe boating and to support the goals of the Safe Boating Campaign.

Proclamation in Recognition of National Travel and Tourism Week, May 19 -25, 2024

At the Thursday, May 18 regular city council meeting, Alderman Carmichael presented the National Travel and Tourism Week Proclamation for May 19-25 to members of the Acworth Tourism Bureau Authority (Visit Acworth). Chairman Jeff Green accepted the proclamation on behalf of the city. Tourism is the number one economic driver in Cobb County, and the City of Acworth celebrates the essential role it plays within the community.
