Acworth Power has provided reliable, efficient electricity to our city’s residents, business and visitors since 1906.  Acworth Power provides electric power to roughly 7,000 residential and commercial customers throughout the City of Acworth as well as portions of Cobb and Bartow Counties. The team operates three high voltage feeder sub-stations, hundreds of miles of overhead and underground power lines, as well as maintaining over 2000 poles, 1400 of transformers and high voltage switch gear.

Acworth Power is a member of the Municipal Electric Authority of Georgia (MEAG Power) and has partial ownership of several electricity producing projects that are managed through our partnership with MEAG Power and 52 other municipal partners.  The city is responsible for building and maintaining distribution infrastructure that feeds our customers, while we receiving electricity via the Georgia Integrated Transmission System (ITS).

Acworth Power are also active members of the American Public Power Association (APPA) and Electric Cities of Georgia (ECG).   Our partnership with these various entities allow us to provide the highest quality and reliability of power, maintain affordable rates and have a voice in the state and national legislative environment.

Outside of maintenance of power line infrastructure and distribution of power, the Department is also responsible for maintaining warehousing and inventory, maintenance of rights-of-way, utility location, and metering infrastructure among other quality of life producing responsibilities.  All of our lineworkers are trained through the ECG Lineman Apprentice Program and the team receives continuing power safety education via other ECG programs as well as our internal Training & Safety program.

Acworth Power provides 24-hour service 365 days a year.  If you are experiencing power related issues such as: street lights outages or tree limbs in the lines, please email: power@acworth-ga.gov.
