The mailing addresses are decided by the federal government, not the City of Acworth. There are even some City of Acworth Residents who have a Kennesaw Mailing address. Recently, Cobb County and all the cities within the county worked together to update a “489 – Service Delivery Strategy” agreement. Prior to this, many of our City programs included a resident and non-resident fee that was applied dependent on whether you lived within the city limits of Acworth. Through this negotiation process with the County, the City of Acworth agreed to extend resident status to not only those living within the City limits, but also to include anyone residing in Cobb County.
What does this mean for you? Moving forward, all participants that live within Cobb County will qualify for “resident” rates. Anyone residing outside of Cobb County, including but not limited to: Paulding, Bartow and Cherokee counties, will be considered “out of county residents”. There will continue to be a slight discount for those residents that live within Cobb County.
This change will take effect on Monday, October 28th. If you have any questions on this or your residency status with programs, please call the Acworth Community Center at 770-917-1234.
