The Acworth Dragon Boat Festival will take place on Saturday, May 3, 2025. Dragon Boating is an up-and-coming sport, soon to be an Olympic sport. The Lake Authority is a five-member board where the elected Mayor serves as the Chairman. The remaining four members are appointed by the Mayor and Board to serve. They are a group of citizens that assist the City by providing citizen input and engagement into the operation, management, and the development of master plans for Federally leased properties around Lake Acworth. The Lake Authority meets at the Acworth Community Center (4361 Cherokee Street) on the first Monday of the month at noon.
Visit Acworth is the city's tourism bureau authority charged with branding and marketing the city for the purpose of attracting visitors to enjoy Acworth's two beautiful lakes and historic downtown districts. Visit Acworth meets the second Thursday of the month at 4:30 p.m. at Acworth City Hall.
The North Cobb Rotary Club, City of Acworth, and the Georgia Barbecue Association partner each year to bring you the Smoke on the Lake BBQ Festival. This event will be held on Friday, May 9 from 5:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. and Saturday, May 10 from 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., 2024 at Logan Farm Park. The DDA facilitates the process of Economic Development in the Downtown Development Authority District while preserving its historic downtown heritage, and meets the third Tuesday of the month at 4:00 p.m. at Acworth City Hall.
The ceremony to honor those who have given their lives in service to our country will be held on Saturday, May 24 at 10:00 a.m. in Cauble Park at Patriots Point. Veterans and current servicemen will pay tribute to brave men and women who have fought and died for our nation. The Acworth Planning & Zoning Commission is responsible for ensuring developments are coordinated and harmonious with existing and future needs and consistent with the City's Comprehensive Plan. The Commission meets on the fourth Tuesday of every month to review rezoning, annexation, and other requests at Acworth City Hall (4415 Center Street).
The HPC is charged with carrying out the provisions of the Acworth Historic Preservation Ordinance and meets quarterly on the fourth Thursday of February, May, August, and November at 12:00 p.m. at Acworth City Hall.

On Saturday, May 31, Acworth will host a Classic Car Cruise in Downtown Acworth. The event will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Logan Farm Park (4405 Cherokee Street). The Lake City Cruisers partner with the City and the downtown Acworth merchants to hold these Classic Car Cruises. The event is free to the public. A $5 entry fee is requested for all vehicles in the cruise. All proceeds go to the Horizon Field, an all-inclusive special needs sports facility in Acworth. READ MORE
