    The Special Olympics Polar Plunge, hosted by the Law Enforcement Torch Run For Georgia, will take place again at Acworth Beach at Cauble Park will return on Saturday, February 21, 2026. The purpose behind the Polar Plunge is to support and spread awareness for the 17,429 Special Olympics Georgia athletes.     The Acworth Planning & Zoning Commission is responsible for ensuring developments are coordinated and harmonious with existing and future needs and consistent with the City's Comprehensive Plan. The Commission meets on the fourth Tuesday of every month to review rezoning, annexation, and other requests at Acworth City Hall (4415 Center Street).

    The Lake Authority is a five-member board where the elected Mayor serves as the Chairman.  The remaining four members are appointed by the Mayor and Board to serve.  They are a group of citizens that assist the City by providing citizen input and engagement into the operation, management, and the development of master plans for Federally leased properties around Lake Acworth. The Lake Authority meets at the Acworth Community Center (4361 Cherokee Street) on the first Monday of the month at noon.
