On Saturday, July 4, 2026, Mayor Allegood, alongside Alderman Houston, Alderwoman Haase, Alderman Prather, and Alderman Carmichael, presented a proclamation in commemoration of the 250th Anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. The proclamation was presented to the John Collins Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution and the Liberty Hill Daughters of the American Revolution at Acworth’s July 4th Concert and Fireworks event at Cauble Park.

The City of Acworth celebrates this historic anniversary as an opportunity to reflect on our nation’s past, honor the contributions of all Americans, and remind our future generations to protect the ideals of our democracy.
