Proclamation Celebrating Georgia Arbor Day

Published On: February 24, 2026
At the Thursday, February 19 regular city council meeting, Mayor Allegood presented the annual Georgia Arbor Day Proclamation to Lori Perkins, Chair of the Acworth Tree Commission and the Acworth Community Garden Manager! She was accompanied by our Acworth Parks, Recreation, and Community Resource Department Business Manager Ash Jordan Fox and Director Kim Watt. The City of Acworth has received its Tree City USA designation since 1998 by the National Arbor Day Foundation, and will continue its tree-planting practices through the commission, and with the help of our amazing Parks Operations staff, well into the future. Georgia Arbor Day is held annually throughout the state to recognize the important effects of a healthy tree canopy and the environmental, economic, and social benefits of community trees and forests. The Acworth community is invited to celebrate and support efforts to protect our trees and woodlands today and every day!
