At the Thursday, December 7 regular city council meeting, Chief Evans and Sergeant Hunt presented the Officer of the Quarter Award to Officer Negrete. Officer Negrete was selected by his peers for his work on a traffic stop that led to the arrest of a person with two warrants who was also in possession of large quantities of THC and marijuana.

At the Thursday, December 7 regular city council meeting, Alderman Gene Pugliese presented the National Guard Day proclamation to Specialist EO4 Kiera-Grace DeSanto. National Guard Day is celebrated on December 13 in observance of being formed on this date 387 years ago in 1636 in Massachusetts. It is with profound respect and appreciation that the citizens of Acworth recognize the unselfish sacrifice by the National Guard to defend and honor our great Nation.

At the Thursday, December 7 regular city council meeting, Mayor Allegood presented Deputy City Clerk, Christie Burgner, with a plaque recognizing her years of dedicated service and commitment to the City of Acworth. Mayor Allegood congratulated Ms. Burgner on her new endeavor and advised that she would be missed.

  Mayor Tommy presented a proclamation to business owner Elise Martin of Wild Blossoms in recognition of 25 years on Main Street in Historic Downtown.  Accompanying Ms. Martin for the presentation were business partners Christie Reed and Susan Arnold.   The City of Acworth congratulates Wild Blossoms on their 25th anniversary with blessings for continued success!

Acworth Police Chief Jesse Evans along with Corporal Eric Mistretta acknowledged Acworth Public Safety Cadets in recognition for competing in the LEEAG State Championship where they show cased their skills and dedication. The Cadets were triumphant in being named the State Champions for their dedication to the organization and training, in addition to the great leadership of Corporal Mistretta and Sergeant Vetter.

At the Thursday, November 2 regular city council meeting, Alderman Richardson presented the annual proclamation in recognition of United States Marine Corps Day to Veteran Staff Sergeant Henry Alexander. Mr. Alexander served in the Marine Corps from 1968 to 1969 until he was wounded in action and additionally served 16 years with the USMC Reserves at NAS Atlanta. On Friday, October 20, Mayor Allegood and the City Team celebrated the grand opening of Acworth Vintage & Vinyl with an official ribbon cutting. Acworth Vintage & Vinyl is located at 4510 South Main Street across from the Holbrook, and the Acworth community looks forward to its new chapter in the Mill District.
