North Cobb and Allatoona High School Seniors Awarded Mayor’s Cup

Mayor Allegood and Alderman Houston were excited to present seniors, Zia Tomlin from North Cobb High School and Zainab Choudhary from Allatoona High School, with this year's Mayor's Cup Award for their respective high schools. Ribbon Cutting Celebrating Import Elegance Beauty & Academy

This week, Mayor and the City Team held a ribbon cutting at Import Elegance Beauty & Academy on Main Street in the Mill District to celebrate their grand opening. Import Elegance Beauty & Academy offers lash and brow services by appointment. Acworth is excited to welcome them to the community and thanks Martha and her team for their investment in the city! Ribbon Cutting for the Cove at Lake Acworth

Plaque Dedication Celebrating Chandler’s Barber Shop

On Tuesday, April 11, The Save Acworth History Foundation dedicated a plaque on Main Street to Chandler's Barber Shop which served the Acworth community for around 40 years from the 1940s through the 1980s. Sunday, April 2, 2023 has been proclaimed by the Mayor and Board of Aldermen in the City of Acworth as "Education and Sharing Day" in honor of 121 years since the birth of Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Schneerson. Lacey Drug Co. Plaque Dedication with the Save Acworth History Foundation

Lacey Drug Company has served the residents of Acworth continuously since 1895 when it was founded by the Durham brothers. This week, the City of Acworth had the honor of celebrating this important piece of our community with the Save Acworth History Foundation as a plaque was unveiled on Main Street in honor of the business. Acworth Public Safety Cadets Lead City Clean Up Challenge

The Acworth Public Safety Cadets - Unit 4440 partnered with Acworth Power and Public Works to host the first quarter City Clean Up Challenge for 2023 on Saturday, March 18, 2023. The Cadets and community volunteers focused on Cowan Connector and Cowan Road to Spring Meadow Drive. Cadets and Volunteers filled 25 bags (95-gallons each) with trash. Officer Parlarche Presented with Silver Star for Bravery

During the Thursday, March 16 the regular city council meeting, Chief Evans presented Officer Palarche with Silver Star for Bravery for her actions during violent incident in December. Officer Palarche was injured during the confrontation, but never backed down and continued to protect innocent citizens in the area. Officer Palarche was also recognized as the 2022 Officer of the Year for the Acworth Police Department during the meeting.

Recognition of 2023 Acworth Police Polar Plunge Team

During the Thursday, March 16 regular city council meeting, Corporal Mistretta recognized the Acworth Public Safety Cadets and 2023 Polar Plunge team members, including K-9 Jodi, for their hard work and dedication during the Special Olympics Georgia Polar Plunge Fundraiser. The Acworth Police Department team worked together to raise $20,136.00 to benefit Special Olympics Athletes. Thank you to everyone who supported this wonderful cause!
