Swearing-In of Captain Michael Taylor to the Rank of Major

Ribbon Cutting Celebrating City BBQ

Mark Cheatham Sworn In as New Acworth Chief of Police

On Monday, January 6, Honorable Robert D. Leonard II swore in Chief Interim, Mark Cheatham, as the next Acworth Chief of Police. Chief Cheatham's family accompanied him for the presentation.  Chief Cheatham acknowledged former Acworth Police Chiefs Michael Wilkie, Wayne Dennard, and Jesse Evans, who were present, for their leadership and thanked his family, the Mayor and Board of Aldermen, the Acworth community, and the City Team for their support in helping him to reach the greatest honor in his professional career.

Proclamation Honoring Jesse Evans for his Service as Acworth Chief of Police

Mayor Allegood presented former Chief Jesse Evans with a proclamation in recognition of his past two years of leadership and contributions to the Acworth Police Department and the community. Former Chief Evans was also presented with a special token from the Acworth Police Department. Former Chief Evans will be returning to the Cobb County District Attorney's Office to further his career.  Former Chief Evans' wife Shea accompanied him for the presentation.

Recognition of the Acworth Police Department for their awards received from the Special Olympics of Georgia

At the Thursday, December 19 regular city council meeting, Sergeant Eric Mistretta recognized Officer Anthony Trapani and K-9 Robuck and Acworth Police Cadets for their fundraising efforts for the Special Olympics of Georgia.  Over $18,000 has been raised as of 2024.  In addition to fundraising, the Cadets also represented the Acworth Police as the “Department of the Year” for their volunteer work.
