At the Thursday, March 6 regular city council meeting, Parks, Recreation and Community Resource Department Director Kim Watt recognized the 2025 Arbor Day photo contest winners and presented the winning photographs.  Photos of award recipients will be displayed at the Acworth Community Center during the month of March.   The Acworth Tree Commission and Parks, Recreation, and Community Resource Department staff members also celebrated the 2025 designation of Acworth as a Tree City USA, which is a designation that has been held by the city since 1998.

The Acworth Tree Commission is a five-member board housed under the Acworth Parks, Recreation, and Community Resource Department that is appointed by the Mayor and Board of Aldermen for staggered terms of four years. The Commission is responsible for the annual Arbor Day program, planting of trees in the community, and leading the efforts of the Acworth Community Garden. The Commission meets the second Tuesday of January, April, July, and October at 3:45 p.m. at the Acworth Community Center.
