Presentation of State Certification Reaccreditation for the Acworth Police Department

At the Thursday, August 1 regular city council meeting, Acworth Police Chief Jesse Evans acknowledged members of the Acworth Police Department who were commended for their efforts with state certification reaccreditation for the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police.  Elizabeth Andrews was also acknowledged for her inaugural role as a civilian leader in coordinating the submission of documentation with over 140 standards which resulted in the department receiving certification for the third cycle in March 2024.

City of Acworth and Save Acworth History Foundation Presentation

At the Thursday, August 1 regular city council meeting, Alderman Richardson, along with Mayor Tommy Allegood, recognized members of the Save Acworth History Foundation (SAHF) for their efforts in preserving Acworth history, with special recognition to Mack Turner who received a plaque for induction into the Acworth Citizens of Honor.  The plaque will be on display in the Council Chambers at City Hall.

Recognition of Acworth Power Department, Recipient of National Commendation for Electric Restoration Efforts in Tallahassee, FL

At the Thursday, August 1 regular city council meeting, Deputy City Manager of Operations Angie Luna, along with Alderman Houston, recognized members of the Acworth Power Team for their hard work and commitment to preserving the quality of life for Acworth residents due to a recent storm that left over 4,000 residents without power. Acworth Power team members were also recognized for being the recipient of the National Commendation for Electric Restoration efforts in Tallahassee, FL, after three tornadoes hit their community in May 2024. Proclamation in Recognition of United States Coast Guard Day, August 4, 2024

At the Thursday, August 1 regular city council meeting, Mayor Tommy Allegood and Alderman Steve Prather presented the annual United States Coast Guard Day Proclamation to retiree Chuck Polk who served 42 years of active duty with the reserves and is an active member of the local American Legion-Ron Asby/North Cobb Post 304. August 4, 2024, will mark the 234-year recognizing U.S. Coast Guard Day in the Acworth community and throughout the nation.

Recognition of Alderman Brett North for Receiving the GMA Certificate of Excellence through the Harold F. Holtz Municipal Training Institute

At the Thursday, August 1 regular city council meeting, Mayor Tommy Allegood recognized Alderman Brett North for his recent accomplishment in receiving the Certificate of Excellence, as well as the Certificate of Attendance and Participation from the Harold F. Hotlz Municipal Training Institute. With 120 hours of training requirements met, Alderman North was recognized by the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) during the June 24 awards luncheon in Savannah.

Recognition of John Greeson for Ten Years of Service to the City of Acworth

At the Monday, July 8 regular city council meeting, Acworth Parks, Recreation and Community Resource Department Director Kim Watt, alongside Assistant Directors Nick Fryman and Neely Motiejunas recognized Operations Manager of Parks, John Greeson, for ten years of dedicated service to the City of Acworth. Mr. Greeson is a familiar face within our parks, and the City thanks and celebrates him for his service to the Acworth community.

Proclamation in Recognition of Amateur Radio Week, June 17-23

At the Thursday, June 20, regular city council meeting, Alderman Richardson presented the annual proclamation recognizing Amateur Radio Week to members of the Kennehoochee Amateur Radio Club. Amateur Radio operators provide backup communications capabilities through the Amateur Radio Emergency Services, Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Services, the Shared Resources High-Frequency Radio program, and the Military Auxiliary Radio System. Amateur Radio Week is being recognized June 17-23 in the City of Acworth.

Acworth Cultural Arts Community Theatre MOU Presentation

At the Thursday, June 20 regular city council meeting, the Acworth Cultural Arts Center presented the city with a memorandum of understanding for a new black box theatre at the Roberts School Community Center.
