At the Thursday, June 20, regular city council meeting, Alderman Richardson presented the annual proclamation recognizing Amateur Radio Week to members of the Kennehoochee Amateur Radio Club. Amateur Radio operators provide backup communications capabilities through the Amateur Radio Emergency Services, Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Services, the Shared Resources High-Frequency Radio program, and the Military Auxiliary Radio System. At the Thursday, June 20 regular city council meeting, Chief Jesse Evans presented Officer Tamara Severtson with a Life Saving Award in honor of her efforts to save an elderly woman's life last spring. On March 19th, 2024, E911 officers were notified of an elderly woman in distress at Brickmont of Acworth. The caller informed that the victim was choking and was no longer conscious. On Friday, June 14, Alderman Houston and the City Team celebrated the grand opening of Northwest Pediatric Care with a ribbon cutting. At the Thursday, June 6 regular city council meeting, Deputy City Manager of Operations, Angie Luna, recognized Sanitation Crew Leader/Driver James (Jimmy) Duncan for 20 years of service to the city's sanitation division. At the Thursday, June 6 regular city council meeting, members of the North Cobb Rotary Club presented funds raised from the May 10-11, 2024 Smoke on the Lake BBQ Festival held at Logan Farm Park and thanked Mayor Allegood and the Board of Aldermen for their continued support of the event.  This year's festival served as one of the largest fundraisers in the club's history with proceeds benefiting local charities. At the Thursday, June 6 regular city council meeting, Mayor Allegood presented the annual U.S. Army Day Proclamation to retired veteran and former Commander Naomi Munevar. On June 14, 2024, we celebrate 249 years of the U.S. Army's existence, whereas Acworth citizens are urged to recognize and honor our Army and all members of the armed forces who sacrifice their lives for the safety and well-being of others.

At the Thursday, June 6 regular city council meeting, Mayor Tommy presented a proclamation to North Cobb Christian School "Eagles" for 2024 Athletic Accomplishments including recognition of the NCCS Baseball Team winning the 2024 GHSA 2A State Championship for the second straight GHSA 2A State Championship making this the fourth overall championship in program history with the other two in 2002 and 2006; and in recognition of Christina Surcey for winning the GHSA 2A Girls Individual Golf Championship, a first for NCCS.
