Scouts at the February 2nd Council Meeting

Members of Boy Scout Troop 116 and Cub Scout Pack 730 led the Invocation and Pledge of Allegiance at the February 2nd City Council Meeting. The Scouts also received a proclamation in recognition of the 113th anniversary of the Scouts.

Oath of Office for Lieutenant LaRocque

Chief Evans performed the oath of office and swearing in for Lieutenant Jason LaRocque. Family, friends and members of the Acworth Police Department were in attendance for the ceremony. Chief Evans commended Lt. Larocque on his twenty years of service with the City of Acworth, his years as a K9 handler, multiple certifications, many hours of training and his commitment to instructing new officers. Lt. Larocque will lead the Office of Professional Standards within the Acworth Police Department.

Recognition of Christine Tilling for 10 years of service

Deputy City Manager Diana DeSanto recognized Christine Tilling for 10 years of service to the City of Acworth. Christine is an accountant in the Finance Department and is tasked with the most important job... payroll! She has helped lead the effort within City Hall to go paperless and assisted with the destruction of many years of outdated paperwork. Christine is a great asset to the City, not just for her accounting skills, but also for her friendship to fellow employees.

Chief Evans administered the Oath of Office to Public Safety Liaisons (PSL) Jacob Conklin and Asia Sturgis. PSL Conklin is a recent graduate of Kennesaw State University and has completed an internship with the Acworth Police Department. PSL Conklin was accompanied by his family for the swearing-in. PSL Sturgis is a recent graduate of Alabama State University and was accompanied by Alderman Houston for the swearing-in in lieu of attendance by family members who reside in Florida. Oath of Office given to Officer(s) Brix Boarman, Mathew McKelvey, and Brady Turner

Chief Evans performed the oath of office and swearing-in for Officer(s) Brix Boarman, Brady Turner, and Matthew McKelvey who recently graduated the police academy as certified officers.  Officer Boarman has been with the Acworth Police Department since 2021 as a detention officer and then transferred to a PSL.  Officer(s) Turner and McKelvey came to the department in July 2022.  The officers were accompanied by family members  for the presentation.

Recognition of Acworth Aldermen for Years of Service

Mayor Tommy recognized Alderman Tim Richardson for 25 years of service and Alderman Gene Pugliese for 15 years of service to the Acworth Board of Aldermen. Accompanied by Alderman Richardson was wife Marty, and Alderman Pugliese wife Billie Jo and children Ashley and Gabe, and a visitor.
