Presentation of Acworth Police Officer of the Quarter Award

At the Thursday, May 18 regular city council meeting, Acworth Police Chief Evans and Lieutenant Hunt presented Public Safety Liaison Officers Crumbley and Conklin the Officer of the Quarter Award for their role in helping to locate a missing elderly man from Kennesaw. Because of their commitment to the community, the officers found the missing man and he was returned to his family safely. Chief Evans thanked the officers for their dedication.

Oath of Office for Officer Asia Sturgis

At the Thursday, May 18 regular city council meeting, Chief Jesse Evans administered the oath of office to Asia Sturgis of the Acworth Police Department. Officer Sturgis began her career with Acworth in January as a Public Safety Liaison(PSL), and the City of Acworth thanks her for her dedication to the department and looks forward to her continued growth as she serves the community.

Plaque Dedication for Unique Knitting Company

On Thursday, May 11 at the Acworth Depot Park History Center, the Save Acworth History Foundation dedicated a plaque to be hung on the fence along downtown Main Street celebrating the Unique Knitting Company. The Unique Knitting Company operated in Acworth from 1926-1982 and manufactured hosiery. They even made socks to supply the military during World War II. Ribbon Cutting Celebrating Acworth Rosenwald School Renovations

The City of Acworth celebrated the grand re-opening of the Acworth Rosenwald School on Tuesday, May 9 with a ribbon cutting. Ribbon Cutting Celebrating Urbnpop Comic Company

Mayor Allegood and the City Team were thrilled to host a ribbon cutting at Urbnpop Comic Company, a fun new shop in the Mill District in Downtown Acworth, on Friday, May 5, 2023. With inventory ranging from comics and memorabilia to clothing and original art, Urbnpop Comic Company is a wonderful addition to the downtown area. Proclamation in Recognition of Patriots Day, April 19, 2023

Proclamation in Recognition of Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month, May 2023

Alderman Richardson presented a proclamation for recognition of Motorcycle Safety Awareness for the month of May 2023, to Dana Nunes who was accompanied by motorcyclists from various professions and retirees.  Motorcycle organizations across the country will be conducting a variety of activities to promote the importance of motorist awareness and safely sharing the road with motorcycles, and urge all motor vehicle operators to join in this effort in keeping our highways safe.
