Ribbon Cutting Celebrating Acworth Rosenwald School Renovations
The City of Acworth celebrated the grand re-opening of the Acworth Rosenwald School on Tuesday, May 9 with a ribbon cutting. The renovations were completed with a Community Development Block Grant, and the City of Acworth is incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make this happen. Speaking at the event were Mayor Tommy Allegood, Dr. Frank Johnson Jr from Zion Hill Baptist Church, Kimberly Roberts from Cobb County CDBG Program, Trevor Beemon from Cobb Landmarks, Chairwoman Lisa Cupid from Cobb County Government, and Alderman Tim Houston.
Further thanks to the Cobb County CDBG Program, CROFT Architecture and Engineering, Diversified Construction of Georgia, Inc., and the Acworth City Team who worked together to make this renovation happen in order to make sure the important African American history of this schoolhouse and community center is accessible for years to come.
