DESCRIPTION:The Special Olympics Polar Plunge\, hosted by the Law Enforcement Torch Run For Georgia\, will take place again at Acworth Beach at Cauble Park will return on Saturday\, February 21\, 2026. \nThe purpose behind the Polar Plunge is to support and spread awareness for the 17\,429 Special Olympics Georgia athletes. The Polar Plunge is the largest fundraising effort benefiting Special Olympics. Many states across the nation participate in this annual event through the efforts of their Law Enforcement Torch Run program. The Polar Plunge is an official Law Enforcement Torch Run event. \nAnyone with a little guts and a warm heart wanting to support the athletes of Special Olympics Georgia is welcome to participate! Participants collect pledges from friends and family in exchange for the opportunity to jump into icy waters in the middle of winter. All proceeds collected by plungers will benefit the athletes of Special Olympics Georgia. DESCRIPTION:The City of Acworth invites everyone to join us for our 13th Annual Menorah Lighting Ceremony on Tuesday\, December 16 at 6:00 p.m. at Doyal Hill Park and the Acworth Rosenwald School.  Rabbi Zalman Charytan from the Chabad Jewish Center will officiate the lighting with Mayor Tommy Allegood. \nThe eight day Jewish holiday commemorates the Jewish Maccabees’ military victory over Syrian-Greek oppression more than 2\,000 years ago. During Chanukah\, Jews across the world celebrate the miracle of light that burned for eight days out of a single-days-worth of oil found in the Temple. One Chanukah candle is lit the first night and an additional candle is lit each successive night. The holiday is a celebration of religious freedom and hope.

DESCRIPTION:Help keep Lake Acworth beautiful! \nAcworth Power and Public Works’ Stormwater Division is partnering with Acworth Parks\, Recreation\, and Community Resource Department to host a Lake Acworth Clean-Up on Saturday\, March 23 from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at Cauble Park. \nInterested volunteers are encouraged to RSVP to Luke McTaggart at lmctaggart@acworth-ga.gov. Volunteers are asked to bring kayaks and canoes if they have them. However\, Appalachian Outfitters has kindly donated kayaks for volunteers to use if they do not have them. DESCRIPTION:The City of Acworth has partnered with the Acworth Business Association\, The UGA Small Business Development Center at Kennesaw State University\, and Earnest Davis with E3 Consulting to host its annual Minority\, Women\, and Veteran owned small business seminar.\n\n\n\nThis program is designed to provide an inclusive and equitable educational resource to small businesses within the Acworth community by providing access to information relating to business growth as well as grant and marketing opportunities. The first part of the program will consist of a course from the Small Business Development Center on small business lending and the second part of the program will be a presentation from Earnest Davis. The seminar will take place at the Acworth Community Center on Thursday\, January 25 from 8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.\n\n\n\nTo attend\, interested business owners may RSVP by emailing communityconversation@acworth-ga.gov by January 22nd\, 2024.
